Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What thoughts come to mind when you hear somebody mention the calling of God? What does it mean that God calls people. Does God still call people? Would you say that God has called you or has a calling for you? Explain.

3. Read the following passages and describe the sense of determination and perseverance present to obey God’s call: Joshua 1:7-9; Daniel 3:16-18, Nehemiah 4; 2 Corinthians 11:24-28 1 Corinthians 15:58.

4. Describe a time in which you were required to have determination and perseverance while obeying God’s will for your life. From where do Christians get the strength to obey and follow God?

5. Look back through Judges chapters 6-8 and describe the person Gideon. In what way was Gideon called by God? How did Gideon think of himself, and why? What was the source of Gideon’s strength (cf. 6:34)? Describe some ways in which Gideon has grown and matured.

6. Describe the criticism Gideon faced from His fellow Israelites (cf. 8:1-3). Were the accusations legit? Describe a time when you were mistakenly accused of wrongdoing. How did you respond? How well did Gideon respond?

7. Why are grace and humility necessary when responding to criticism? Do you struggle with facing criticism and accusations against you? Why is criticism so hard for us to handle?

8. What are some precautions we should take to combat fatigue and burnout? Describe some ways in which we can overcome fatigue while obeying the Lord (cf. Hebrews 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 4:16-17).
