1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Briefly describe your understanding of why God gave Israel priests? What was the purpose of the priesthood? Why were priests necessary?

3. Do you think it is okay for people to be called priests today? Why or why not? Are priests still needed today in the church? How does the writer of Hebrews help us with answering these questions?

4. Read Exodus 29 and Numbers 18. Describe the structure of the priesthood in the Old Testament. What were some of the qualifications and stipulations regarding the priests?

5. List at least three key qualities and characteristics mentioned about priests in Hebrews 5:1-4?

6. Read 1 Peter 5:1-4. What are the main responsibilities of elders, according to this passage? What kind of character and attitude should elders possess?

7. In 1 Peter 2:9-12, Peter addresses Christians. What does it mean for Christians to be a “royal priesthood” to God? What are the responsibilities and duties of every believer as a part of the priesthood? Do you struggle with thinking of yourself as part of a priesthood? Explain.

8. Read Zechariah 9, Isaiah 40:11 and Isaiah 42:1-4. What are some qualities mentioned here about our High Priest, Jesus Christ? Why is Christ a greater high priest than all others?
