1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean to be spiritually mature? What are some indications that a person is spiritually mature? Would you consider yourself spiritually mature? Why or why not?

3. List some ways in which you have grown in Christ over the last 5-10 years. What are some ways in which we should work to grow as Christians? What are some areas of your faith in which you would like to grow?

4. Read the following passages: Psalm 1:1-2; Proverbs 1:22; 2:1; 13:24; Ephesians 6:4; 1 Corinthians 3:1-3; 9:24-27; 13:11; 14:20; Ephesians 4:11-14; Colossians 1:9-12; 1:28-29; 1 Peter 2:1-2; 1 Timothy 4:14-16. What impression do these passages give you with respect to spiritual maturity?

5. Why was the writer of Hebrews having trouble explaining the teaching of Christ and Melchizedek to his audience? What was it about the audience that made his teaching difficult? Do you think Christians can be guilty of living in the flesh; or being carnal? Explain.

6. Describe a time when you saw somebody unskilled in their trade. What were some indications that they were unskilled? What was the result of their lack of skill? Likewise, what happens when we are unskilled in God’s Word?

7. Read Acts 17:10-11 and describe some things that stand out to you about the Bereans. What was their attitude about the Word of God? What does it mean to “examine” the Scriptures daily?
