Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Read back through Judges chapter 4 and note at least three observations. Why do you think the Lord recorded this story for us? What major lessons and points of application do you see for us? How does this story relate to that of Ehud in chapter 3?

3. Describe the meaning of biblical peace. What is the difference between the world’s form of peace and that which comes through Christ (cf. John 14:27)? Do you have peace in your life? Why or why not?

4. What does it mean that our hope is in the Lord alone? Read the following passages: Psalm 33:20-22; 62:5-8; 61:1-4. Does the Psalmist accurately reflect your own life in these passages? Explain how he does or does not.

5. In what way did Sisera trust in a false peace? Should he have been afraid? What does it mean to properly fear the Lord (cf. Proverbs 1:7; 1 John 4:18)?

6. Describe a time when you were thirsty and did not have access to water. What are some ways in which we try to find satisfaction apart from the Lord? What are some things people sometimes use as substitutes for true satisfaction? How do we know if our satisfaction is or is not in Christ alone? Explain.

7. What advantages do Christians have with Christ as our Advocate (1 John 2:1)? Describe a time when you were not represented well. What are some consequences of having an ineffective representative?

8. Read Matthew 11:28-30. How do we know if we have rest from God? In what way does Jesus give rest? Are there areas of life in which you are weary and need rest? Take time to turn those over to the Lord and express trust in Him.
