Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that the Lord goes before us? If the Lord is in us, how can He go before us too? What does it mean that God is omnipresent?

3. Read the following passages: Deuteronomy 1:8-33; 9:1-3; 12:29-30. In what way did the Lord go before Israel? What occurred as a result of the Lord going before Israel? How were God’s actions on behalf of His people intended to affect their faith and obedience?

4. Describe a time in which the Lord prepared a way for you. What were some of the obstacles or difficulties that He overcame? How did God’s actions affect your thinking toward Him?

5. What were some of the obstacles Israel faced in our passage? Why do you think God allowed those obstacles to exist? Why do you think God has permitted obstacles to exist in your past or present? Do you believe God is able to overcome obstacles in your life? Why or why not?

6. Read Psalm 27 and note some observations about the Scripture. Why is it wrong for us to fear other people? Have you ever struggled with other people intimidating you or causing you to fear? How does knowing God as our stronghold give us peace and confidence?

7. Isaiah 54:17 states that no weapon formed against us shall succeed. What exactly does that mean? What kind of weapons have you seen formed against you? Can you say that those weapons have not overcome you? Why or why not?

8. Each day is the Lord’s and belongs to Him. How well do you do at dedicating each day to the Lord? What does the Lord want you to do today?

9. Describe ways in which Jesus has gone before us. What is the significance of Jesus saying “Follow Me”? What did Jesus do when He appeared in heaven (cf. Hebrews 9:24)? What does it mean that Jesus is preparing a place for us (John 14:1-3)?
