Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Explain your understanding of why the resurrection of Christ is so important to the Christian faith. How have you grown in your understanding of the resurrection over the last few months and years? In what areas do you possibly need to grown in understanding the resurrection?

3. How did the resurrection of Christ differ from that of others in the Bible such as Lazarus? If others were raised from the dead, how can Jesus be known as the firstborn from the dead (cf. Colossians 1:18)? Why was it important for Jesus to be the firstborn from the dead?

4. Read the following passages: Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Psalm 16:8-11; Psalm 22; Matthew 12:38-40. Describe how these passages and others necessitated the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. What did Jesus mean when He said it was “necessary” for these things to occur?

5. According to 1 Peter 1:3 we have been born again through (by means of) Christ’s resurrection. Would our salvation have been complete without the resurrection? If not, what did Jesus mean when he said that “it is finished” on the cross (cf. John 19:30)?

6. What does it mean to give great testimony to the resurrection of Christ (cf. Acts 4:32-33)? What part does God have in your testimony? What are some things that we should tell others about the resurrection of Christ? What should we tell others about resurrection in general?

7. How do we know if we are experiencing the power of Christ’s resurrection (cf. Philippians 3:8-11)? Would you say that you are living in the power of the resurrection? Why or why not?
